Healthy Living has been running for five years. The aim of the organisationi is to maintain and develop a creative partnership to tackle the social and economic inequalities experienced in Blackburn to ensure people living in these areas can achieve their optimum state of well-being and health.The project will ensure that the communities have ownership and involvement in the project to design local solutions to meet health needs.
The Healthy Living base is at Bangor Street Community Centre. The Healthy Living Centre aims to provide training and educational opportunities for the community to develop health and fitness opportunities, healthy eating programmes and various activities and projects, all aimed at improving the health and mental well-being of residents living in Blackburn.
Our vision is "To ensure that local people have access to, and are involved in the design and delivery of services that improve their health and well-being."

Higher Croft Citizens Jury on Obesity
A group of 20 residents from Higher Croft are part of the first ever local level Citizens Jury on Obesity. The group will meet over 8 evenings to share their experiences and hearfrom a range of experts before producing a set of recommendations which will form the HLCs obesity strategy.

Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living is to receive £250,000 from the Big Lottery Fund over five years to improve the health, well-being and lifestyles of hundreds of people in Blackburn with Darwen. The grant is part of a £7 million well-being programme supporting 27 Healthy Living Initiatives across the North West, between 2007 and 2012.
