Blackburn North Healthy Living Centre

Community involvement

Community involvement is at the core of all the work we do. We believe that for our work to be effective we have to be involved with, and respond to, the communities we work with. Community health projects, consultations and the CAT teams all help to provide the service the community wants.

Youth consultation

Initially the project started off as two separate consultation groups, one based in Brookhouse and the other based in Little Harwood. Both groups were given the opportunity by the HLC to take part in the Consultation Project where they would be given the opportunity to have their voices and the voices of other young people living within the two wards heard.

Brookhouse youth project

The project will work with a group of excluded young people who live and spend their time in the Brookhouse area of north Blackburn. The area is one of multiple deprivations and has been the subject of many interventionist measures over the last 20 years. Most notably urban programme and city challenge which made huge investments in housing and began to address the areas record as having one of the poorest health records in the EEC.
