Men’s health projectThe Men's Health Project was developed in response to the request of the Community Action Team and local men living in the area for health checks to be available in the evenings and at local community venues in the Brookhouse area. Initially, men were consulted regarding the times and venues that would most convenient for them to attend a Men's Health Service, the most preferred time being evenings 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Eighty percent of the men choose a local social / leisure centre in preference to their place of work or local health centre. The Men' Health Project is led by the District Nursing Service and the Blackburn North Healthy Living Centre and offers a mobile drop in service for Men's health screening, advice and information on men's health issues and nutritional and healthy lifestyle advice and support is provided by the Healthy Living Centre's Nutritionist. The service has been offered in Local Community Centres and Access Points and plans to have sessions in local mosques and churches in the area.
