Drama group

drama

Members of the youth club aged 12-16 have been getting involved in drama workshops facilitated by Gilly Kelly.  The group have developed drama pieces that have been written about experiences of young people and health issues that affect them.  The group have explored issues such as bullying, alcohol and drugs.

The drama group performed two of their pieces at the Healthy Living Centre official opening and received excellent reviews for their commitment, talent and courage to develop pieces about issues that have affected their lives.

Members of the youth club, aged 12-16 have been running a peer led drama workshop for around 15 weeks. They have been working together, supported by Nicola Walker (HLC staff) and have choreographed a dance routine. With the help of Gilly Kelly they are hoping to develop their dancing and also include acting and singing into their production.

Their involvement and commitment to the project, working on their own, has made their confidence grow over the weeks and their self esteem has rocketed. They are currently working on an updated version of Moulin Rouge which will include dancing from different cultures and backgrounds.
