Road safety art project

drive art for web006

With the help of 3 designers from Spearfish community arts project, young people designed two graffiti style display boards showing their understanding of road safety.  These boards are going to hang in the main hall at Bank Top Community Centre for other young people to see, and also be used to promote road safety at larger events.

The art project ran for 6 sessions.  During the sessions we explored the dangers of being on the roads and how to keep safe. Lots of issues were raised by the young people about young people driving around the streets on mini mopeds and young people running into the roads. The designers helped the young people with their drawings of a safe street and a non-safe street to highlight all the dangers.  The aim was to make the young people aware of how dangerous roads can be and make them aware of their personal road safety.
