Women’s self defence

womens self defence

The Workers Education Association has funded a Women's Self Defence course at Bangor Street Community Centre. The course tutor is Shahida Hanif and the aims of the course are:

  • To offer a holistic approach to Women's Self Defence that explores attitudes, prejudices and myths.
  • To increase confidence, assertiveness and awareness.
  • To demonstrate a range of physical and non-physical defence strategies

Self defence is an essential element in a women's ability to defend herself effectively. The course aims to build confidence and encourage women to recognise the experience and skills they already have. The course develops these skills further by introducing a range of physical and non-physical techniques.

The 10 week course is being held on Friday mornings 10:00 - 12:00 at Bangor Street Community Centre room 31
